Modern
Mustangs of Jacksonville (MMJAX) is an organization for owners
and enthusiasts of the Modern Mustang ’79 to current but we also accept all
Mustangs from 64 to current. We
believe that everyone is entitled to his/her own personal taste and we welcome
ALL Mustangs into our club. We are one of the largest car clubs in the
Jacksonville area with members from all parts of Northeast Florida.
We have a very diverse group of members and that is one of the many things
that sets our club apart from the others. We have members ranging from the
ages of 15 yrs. and up, both men and women, active & retired military, different
personal style and tastes and a variety of cultural backgrounds. But one thing
we all share is our OBSESSION with our Stang’s. We enjoy each
other’s company and we respect each other without exception. We pride
ourselves on being a “Family” and we hope to continue this tradition for many
years to come.
Having said that, we are a casual club with no required attendance or
expectations from its members other than to represent MMJAX in a positive light
at all times. We would like everyone to participate in club activities when
they are available and we highly encourage their participation in our annual car
show. Club meetings are held on the 2nd Thursday of every month and
we are actively searching out a new permanent home for these meetings so keep an
eye on our Calendar, and Forums for the next meeting. We discuss current club business and up-coming events,
our cars, and all things Mustang, oh and did I mention we Eat! These
meetings are a great chance to come out and see who we are and what we are all
about.
We
have a very active Club and some members that participate in Autocross, Road
Racing, and Open Test and Tune at one of the many legal racetracks. Other
members prefer to compete in car shows and travel all over the Southeast adding
to their numerous wins and titles. You may have even seen some of their
Stang’s in magazine and newspaper articles. Or sometimes we just like
to hang out and Cruise somewhere for no particular reason. We are always doing
something so check out our “Events
Calendar” on our website to find out where we are.
We are growing fast and we are always looking for new members and long-lost
members to resurface, so if you are interested in joining please go to the
Member Application page and fill out an online application. Or if you
prefer, locate one of the Club Officer’s at one of our many outings to get a
printed copy of the form.
Keep an eye out for one of our current logo’s on the windows of Mustangs all
around Jacksonville and please feel free to join in the fun!

Over the past few issues, we've followed along as Livernois Motorsports built a new 323ci Four-Valve engine for Superfly. Consisting of an FRPP Boss 302 modular block, a Livernois rotating assembly, ported '03 Cobra heads, and custom Comp cams, it made 519 hp on the engine dyno.
A while back, we tested a Track Heat engine kit from Trick Flow Specialties on a high-mileage 5.0L. The Track Heat engine kit was designed as an upgrade that could be applied to anything from a bone-stock 5.0L to a wilder stroker application. For Part 1, we tested the merits of the system on a stock '94 5.0L, pulled from...
Bill Barnes spent the last 16 years working as a skilled trade journeyman at Ford Motor Company's Livonia transmission plant, along with being the membership director for the Mustang Owners Club of Southeastern Michigan (MOCSEM), an MCA regional club with over 500 members. Bill's a Mustang super-fan; you'll see him at any event that features steel Ponies.
Belt-driven boost-makers, better known as superchargers, go with Mustang performance like hot dogs and baseball. The popularity of supercharging is evident by the sheer numbers of systems and configurations, especially those for the '11-present Mustang GT and Boss 302. Last we counted, there was no less than eight manufacturers offering varying levels of superchargers for that genre of Mustang....
Powered by a dual-stage supercharged Merlin V-12, the P-51 produced well over 1,400 hp and could achieve speeds above 450 mph--amazing for a prop-driven plane. The P-51 was used in WWII and the Korean War, and its pilots have shot down over 4,900 enemy aircraft.
Smart phones have become part of our everyday lives. People can't go anywhere or do anything without their iPhone or Android in hand. From plain-old cell phones 10 years ago, these hand-held devices have progressed into handheld computers that serve as portals to our entire lives. Facebook, Twitter, email, texting,...
Modifying our Mustangs often involves trade-offs: adding top-end horsepower could sacrifice low-end torque, a high-flow exhaust may bludgeon your eardrums, and a stiffer suspension can be just that--stiff.
When building a race car or a powerful street car, heat is almost always the enemy. After breaking into the 9s in the last installment of our AMSOIL GT, we decided to look at some of the underhood systems and see if we could reduce temperatures (namely inlet air temps and engine coolant temps), and find some...
Brian Longo of West Warwick, Rhode Island, is one of the fortunate few. "In 1996 I got my first car, a Teal '93 Cobra." Brian tells us. "Shortly after I bought it, I installed long-tube headers, mufflers, 3.73 gears, and a B-303 camshaft. I loved the Cobra, but I always wanted a Saleen."

As the headline states, we’ve lost Carroll Shelby from this land and he’s no doubt headed to the 1320′ strip in the clouds for the hereafter. Shelby passed away at age 89 [...]
Every Ford Mustang wrench-turner knows one of the first steps in any engine swap is to first remove the original power plant. This takes careful planning, time, choice swear words, and bloody knuckles on occasion. Well, a most-fortunate Utah woman found a rapid deploy (and “safe” in this case, thankfully) methodology for removing the engine [...]

That was nearly a decade ago, folks, and we all know that Ford isn’t going to [...]

All throughout the build-up of our latest Ford Mustang project car, Built to Cruise, we hit certain challenges and bumps in the road that required a healthy portion of blood, sweat, and tears…and ultimately, ground-breaking ingenuity. Before we get to the heart of this month's TI, let's take our penchant for fast Mustangs out of the equation. Yes, it's a given that performance is paramount for most enthusiasts, but for this effort our focus is on another aspect of 'Stangbanging.
Many of us get nostalgic about the cars we grew up dreaming about or grew up actually driving. It's easy to get swept away to a simpler, more carefree time by catching sight of a car we once owned or wished we owned. It's probably the most common reason that we buy an older car and turn it into a project. For Ryan Rikers, the motivation to create the Mustang of his dreams runs much deeper.
Long-running project might be an understatement when it comes to Fox 500, but I've always said you are never really done with a project until someone else is holding the title. So if you enjoy toying with Mustangs, it's nice to keep them going.
In our Featured Cars section you'll see some of the finest examples of the original Pony Car, from the 1964 1/2 Convertible to the 1969 Boss 429 Mustang to the 1993 Cobra to the 2007 Shelby GT500!
